- Persons in ministry who do not have a relevant SAQA registered qualification, may also apply for a professional designation through a process of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). RPL towards a professional designation is done based on evidence of a person’s years of ministry experience. Relevant qualifications and other training that are not SAQA registered are also taken into account.
- To apply for a designation through RPL, the applicant must first complete and submit the General ACRP (CGMP or CMTP) Application form .
- After evaluation, the applicant will be informed if he or she qualifies to apply for a higher level of designation through RPL, and the Advanced RPL application form will be provided. This must be completed and submitted together with the relevant supporting documentation (such as examples of ministry outputs) and proof of payment of the RPL fee.
- The requirements to be able to apply for a higher level of designation can be seen in the Rules of Affiliation and Designation document.
- It is important to note the difference between RPL towards a designation (professional body responsibility) and RPL towards a qualification (training institution responsibility). ACRP does not award or issue qualifications, only designations.
